Launched last year to great acclaim, this year’s theme is “doing history” differently. What are some of the ways in which we can use history to reach the general public — ways that are engaging, interesting and fun? Find out on the third Wednesday of each month, February through June 2012.
The Old Town Hall Lectures take place at 7:30 p.m. at Old Town Hall, 32 Derby Square, Salem, MA. Individual tickets may be purchased online through Brown Paper Tickets (go to the Tickets section) or at the door.
“This lecture series continues the momentum we have already established in Salem at Pioneer Village and Old Town Hall, where our talented student actors and interpreters bring history to life every day and where our new Museum of Salem at Old Town Hall gives visitors a general and engaging overview of Salem’s history,” explains K. David Goss, the director of Gordon College’s Institute for Public History. “Through the lecture series,” Goss says, “we are able to introduce the North Shore community to new and exciting ways of ‘doing history’ on a wide variety of historical subjects. We hope people will be entertained, informed, and inspired by the speakers we bring in.”
